As regular watchers and big fans of TED talks, we’ve come across many excellent talks on the topic. These are just 5 of the many DataViz topics that we have found not only inspirational but help keep us up to date on the latest developments in the field.

1 – David McCandless: The beauty of data visualization

David McCandless focuses on the importance of giving data context through depth, color, and ‘visual relief’. If you ask the right questions, intersecting things can emerge that will surprise you. Become a data detective with this TED talk.

2 – JoAnn Kuchera-Morin: Stunning data visualization in the AlloSphere

You’ll know exactly what an Allosphere is after this amazing talk! With so many new possibilities open up with new ways to visualize your data through immersion.

3 – Aaron Koblin: Visualizing ourselves … with crowd-sourced data

Watch the endless possibilities of what you can do with crowd sourced data. Be inspired to investigate what people would be willing to contribute to. It will really surprise you, I promise!

4 – Chris Jordan: Turning powerful stats into art

Bring new and powerful context to your visualizations. The simple pictograph is not enough, be inspired by these amazing visualizations displaying devastating/crucial statistics.

5 – Eric Berlow and Sean Gourley: Mapping ideas worth spreading:

Discover how these two data scientists create 3d visualizations displaying interconnected nodes of information. You will then see connections that would not have been apparent otherwise.
